ποιητές, Ρουμάνοι συγγραφείς, Σέρβοι μουσικοί, Βούλγαροι συνθέτες, Ελληνες διανοητές συναντώνται στο Μέγαρο Μουσικής για ένα τριήμερο (17-19 Οκτωβρίου) αφιερωμένο στον «Πολιτισμό στα Βαλκάνια: Παρελθόν και Παρόν», που διοργανώνεται με πρωτοβουλία του Ελληνικού Ιδρύματος Πολιτισμού, υπό την αιγίδα του Προέδρου της Δημοκρατίας, Κάρολου Παπούλια.
Πρώτα θα διαβάσουν οι ποιητές: Τζεβαχίρ Σπάχιου από την , με τον τολμηρό λόγο που τον έθεσε σε δυσμένεια. Ο απαγορευμένος από το προηγούμενο καθεστώς Βούλγαρος Νικολάι Καντσέφ.
Ο Ρουμάνος Μιρκές Ντινέσκου, που θεωρείται ήρωας γιατί είχε καταλάβει τον τηλεοπτικό σταθμό στο Βουκουρέστι, όταν ο λαός είχε ξεσηκωθεί εναντίον του δικτάτορα Τσαουσέσκου.
Τέλος, ο μεταφρασμένος σε 22 γλώσσες Σέρβος ποιητής Ιβάν Γκαντζάσνκι. Κι ύστερα η Κατερίνα Χέλμη και ο Δημήτρης Καταλειφός θα ερμηνεύσουν τα ποιήματα στα ελληνικά, ενώ η Σαβίνα Γιαννάτου μαζί με τους «Ρrimavera en Salonico» θα κλείσουν τη βραδιά με συναυλία. Ολα αυτά για την Παρασκευή 19.
Την Τετάρτη, πρώτη μέρα, έργα των συνθετών Στεβάν Χριστίτς (Σερβία), Ανδρέα Νεζερίτη (Ελλάδα), Λιουμπομίρ Πίπκοφ (Βουλγαρία) και Ζορζ Ενέσκου (Ρουμανία) θα ερμηνεύσει η Ορχήστρα της Εθνικής Οπερας του Βελιγραδίου, υπό τη διεύθυνση του Βύρωνα Φιδετζή και με σολίστ τον Γιώργο Δεμερτζή.
Τη δεύτερη μέρα του αφιερώματος θα πραγματοποιηθεί ημερίδα με θέμα «Πτυχές της πολιτιστικής ιστορίας των βαλκανικών λαών», με εισηγητές τον Γ. Κακριδή («Οψεις του γλωσσικού ζητήματος: από τον Βουκ Κάρατζιτς στον Γιάννη Ψυχάρη), τον Γ. Λεωτσάκο («Η μουσική στα Βαλκάνια»), την Αντεια Φραντζή «Αίμος: Ανθολογία της βαλκανικής ποίησης») και άλλους.
Παράλληλα, στην έκθεση βιβλίου «Λογοτεχνία από βαλκανικές χώρες», που ξεκινάει την ίδια μέρα στη Στοά του Βιβλίου, περιλαμβάνονται μεταφρασμένα έργα πάνω από 70 σπουδαίων συγγραφέων. Η έκθεση βιβλίου, ειδικά, θα διαρκέσει έως την 1η Νοεμβρίου.
